Koninklijke Auping bv has won the Dutch Logistics Award 2016. This award, presented by the Association of Logistics management (vLm), aims to recognise exceptional logistical performance.

A great reward for their sustainable production site and innovative supply chain

Auping has been given the prize for their Horizon project, in which they totally redesigned their manufacturing and logistics procedure. Fundamental improvements to the process, product and culture have led to a high-tech, innovative and sustainable supply chain. In the jury’s opinion Auping has reinvented itself and they are very impressed with the results of the project.

Uitreiking Nederlandse Logistiek Prijs – winnaar Auping

Harry Gruben, Operations director at Auping, received the prize on Thursday evening during the Logistics Gala held in Rotterdam: "I am particularly proud of this award. Over the past years we have invested significantly in the design and implementation of a new production site, automation, new logistic concepts and sustainability. Our manufacturing is now carried out on the basis of customer orders and is much more flexible, faster and more efficient. This has allowed us to reduce our delivery time from ten weeks to less than three weeks. We have also managed to eliminate waste: a reduction in transport of 120,000 kilometres per year in Deventer alone, no wasted diesel and zero emissions. All of our employees have worked extremely hard on this project and I am therefore absolutely delighted that the vLm has recognised these efforts with such an amazing prize."

A mighty step in terms of innovation

Jury chairman Jos van Hillegersberg on their choice of Auping: "In the Horizon project Auping has truly reinvented itself. The project was successful in considering the customer, the employees, technology, the business case and the sustainability of the entire supply chain. The project demonstrates that even well-established companies can take mighty steps in innovation and in gaining staff support. The high quality labour-intensive products meeting consumer requirements, the smart design of the manufacturing and logistics process – with the right balance of automation and ICT - together with the broad vision on sustainability, make the project a real example to many other companies."
